2023/24 Topps Chrome Basketball Hobby Box

2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball sees one of the hobby’s juggernauts return with NBA stars, rookies and legends — but no NBA logos. Despite this, there are plenty of Refractors, colorful inserts and autographs, including rookie ink from Victor Wembanyama and some of the first LeBron James autograph cards in a long time.

Hobby boxes include a pair of signatures.

2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball Checklist Overview

A total of 190 cards make up the set. Licensed by the NBA Players Association, it includes lots of the game’s big names and the season’s top rookies. There’s also a smattering of retired stars. With Panini holding the NBA-exclusive, players are not pictured in full pro uniforms and cards do not have team logos.

All base cards have almost 30 different Refractors. Most of these are fully color-based. That said, there are also Geometric versions found in the breaker box configuration and basketball background parallels in retail packs.

Topps Chrome Autographs, Certified Rookie Autographs and the retail-only Certified Autographs make up most of the ink on the 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball checklist. This includes on-card Victor Wembanyama cards. Because he has an exclusive deal with Fanatics, the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year does not have any autographs in Panini products this year.

For LeBron James, this is only his second set with his signature since signing as a Fanatics exclusive. His first? A one-of-one dual with his son Bronny James in 2023-24 Bowman Chrome University Basketball.

Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal are among the Hall of Famers with autographs in 2023-24 Topps Chrome Basketball.

Inserts are a bold lot, bringing plenty of pop and color before even taking Refractors into account. Most hobby packs will have one with Coast to Coast, Destiny, Finesse, Season’s Best and Youthquake likely appearing in every box.

Keeping pace with other recent Topps Chrome sets, a handful of tough SSP inserts are also available. These include Exposé, Superfly, Let’s Go, Helix, Radiating Rookies and Rock Stars.
